Prenatal Yoga: Kundalini Women Mondays 5:45pm-6:30pm at Yoga Deza
Conscious Pregnancy is a movement developed within the Kundalini Women 3HO Organization designed to empower and awaken the feminine creative power. Kundalini teachings acknowledge women as one of the highest potentials of the divine. Creator of life, women are supported and nurtured throughout this practice to find a balance of physical, mental and emotional preparedness for the great act of birth.
What is a Kundalini class like? All Kundalini classes begin and end in a similar way, with chanting and quiet acknowledgement of our own unique relationship to the divine. Many postures (often called Kriyas) are seated and work mental, energetic and physical bodies together.
In Prenatal Kundalini, classes have gentle movement to start and follow specific themes of yogic traditions with breath and body work that compliment. For example, a class may be themed around tension in the shoulders, looking at what burdens may be holding us, guilt or worries that can come along with your more sensitive state.
Who should attend class? All women at any stage of pregnancy should attend -- nothing will prepare you for birth and ensure you are taking the highest care of yourself (translating to a healthy and happy baby) in the same way that a consistent yoga practice can. These practices are designed to harmonize the mind with the body and create space for a rest, develop your unique intuition and support a relaxed intentional pregnancy.
Any woman, pregnant or not, who is looking to support expecting mamas is welcome to attend. Invite doulas or close friends to attend with you -- they can be a wonderful support for you in this practice circle.
What should I wear and bring? Any clothes that you can move and flow in, from athletic wear to pajamas, will work well. Be comfortable. A mat or rug is nice to have and water. All of these things are available to borrow at the studio as well. If you are not a member, drop-in prices are $15 per class and can be purchased online or when you come into the studio before class. No experience is necessary. Come as you are with an open heart and curious mind!
